HGF regulates cell growth, cell motility, and morphogenesis by activatinga tyrosine kinase signaling cascade after binding to the proto-oncogenic c-Met receptor. HGF is secreted bymesenchymal cells and acts as a multi-functional cytokine on cells of mainly epithelial origin.
