The function of KLK1 is to cleave Kininogen in order to release the vasoactive Kinin peptide (Lysyl-Bradykinin or Bradykinin). The Kinin peptide controls blood pressure reduction, vasodilation, smooth muscle relaxation and contraction, pain induction and inflammation.
