PCSK9 binds with low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) and plays a major regulatory role in cholesterol homeostasis. Inhibition of PCSK9 function by preventing PCSK9\/LDLR interaction is currently being explored as a means of lowering cholesterol levels.
