Phosphorylation is induced by a wide range of stimμli, including growth factors, tumor-promoting agents, and mitogens. Dephosphorylation occurs at growth arrest. The protein may contribute to the control of cell growth and proliferation through the selective translation of particμlar classes of mRNA.
