A multi-pass membrane protein with nine putative hydrophobic transmembrane domains, TM9SF1 is expressed in lung, pancreas, liver, kidney and placenta. Lower levels of expression can be found in brain, heart and skeletal muscle. TM9SF1 is highly conserved among a variety of species and shares homology with three complete yeast proteins, ten plant proteins and one nematode unidentified protein.
