Background: This gene is a member of the paired box (PAX) family of transcription factors. Members of this gene family typically contain a paired box domain, an octapeptide, and a paired-type homeodomain. These genes play critical roles during fetal development and cancer growth. The specific function of the paired box 7 gene is unknown but speculated to involve tumor suppression since fusion of this gene with a forkhead domain family member has been associated with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2008],

Reactivity: Human, Mouse

Host: Rabbit

Applications: WB, ELISA

Clonality: Polyclonal

Immunogen: Synthesized peptide derived from part region of human protein

Isotype: IgG

Target: PAX7,

Specificity: PAX7 Polyclonal Antibody detects endogenous levels of protein.

Dilution: WB 1:500-2000 ELISA 1:5000-20000

Purification: The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen.

Concentration: 1 mg/ml,

Formulation: Liquid in PBS containing 50% glycerol, and 0.02% sodium azide.

Observed Band (KD): 57kD

Fields: Transcriptional misregulation in cancer

Function: Disease: A chromosomal aberration involving PAX7 is a cause of rhabdomyosarcoma 2 (RMS2) [MIM:268220]; also known as alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. Translocation t(1;13)(p36;q14) with FOXO1. The resulting protein is a transcriptional activator. Probable transcription factor. May have a role in myogenesis. Similarity: Belongs to the paired homeobox family. Similarity: Contains 1 homeobox DNA-binding domain. Similarity: Contains 1 paired domain. Subunit: Can bind to DNA as a heterodimer with PAX3. Interacts with DAXX.
