Background: The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the family of cytoplasmic linker proteins, which have been proposed to mediate the interaction between specific membranous organelles and microtubules. This protein was found to associate with both microtubules and an organelle called the dendritic lamellar body. This gene is hemizygously deleted in Williams syndrome, a multisystem developmental disorder caused by the deletion of contiguous genes at 7q11.23. Alternative splicing of this gene generates 2 transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008],

Immunogen: The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human CLIP2. AA range:997-1046
Isotype: IgG
Target: CLIP-115
Specificity: CLIP-115 Polyclonal Antibody detects endogenous levels of CLIP-115 protein.
Dilution: Western Blot: 1/500 - 1/2000. ELISA: 1/5000. Not yet tested in other applications.
Purification: The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen.

Formlation: Liquid in PBS containing 50% glycerol, 0.5% BSA and 0.02% sodium azide.
Expression: Brain, Clones donated by Kazusa DNA Research Inst,, Epitheliu
Observed Band (KD): 120kD
Function: Disease: Haploinsufficiency of CLIP2 may be the cause of certain cardiovascular and musculo-skeletal abnormalities observed in Williams-Beuren syndrome (WBS) [MIM: 194050]. WBS is a rare developmental disorder. It is a contiguous gene deletion syndrome involving genes from chromosome band 7q11.23
Function: Seems to link microtubules to dendritic lamellar body (DLB), a membranous organelle predominantly present in bulbous dendritic appendages of neurons linked by dendrodendritic gap junctions. May operates in the control of brain-specific organelle translocations
Similarity: Contains 2 CAP-Gly domains
Subcellular Location: Associated with the cytoskeleton
Subunit: Interacts with CLASP1 and CLASP2
Subcellular Location: Cytoplasm Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton Localizes preferentially to the ends of tyrosinated microtubules
