Background: Ataxia telangiectasia mutated kinase (ATM) is a serine/threonine kinase that regulates cell cycle checkpoints and DNA repair. ATM kinase regulates a number of proteins involved in cell cycle checkpoint control, apoptosis, and DNA repair.
