Background: The cathepsin family of proteolytic enzymes contains several diverse classes of proteases. The cysteine protease class comprises cathepsins B, L, H, K, S, and O. The aspartyl protease class is composed of cathepsins D and E. Cathepsin G is in the serine protease class. Most cathepsins are lysosomal and each is involved in cellular metabolism, participating in various events such as peptide biosynthesis and protein degradation. Cathepsins may also cleave some protein precursors, thereby releasing regulatory peptides. The promoter region of the cathepsin D gene contains five Sp1 binding sites and four AP-2 binding sites.
Purification and Purity: The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Storage and Stability: Store at +4°C after thawing. Aliquot store at -20°C or -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze / thaw cycles.
Specificity: Cathepsin D polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of Cathepsin D protein.
Bioworld Molecular Weight: ~ 28, 46 kDa
Note: For research use only, not for use in diagnostic procedure.

The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system.
