Background: Thermolysin-like specificity, but is almost confined on acting on polypeptides of up to 30 amino acids.Biologically important in the destruction of opioid peptides such as Met- and Leu-enkephalins by cleavage of a Gly-Phe bond.Catalyzes cleavage of bradykinin, substance P and neurotensin peptides.Able to cleave angiotensin-1, angiotensin-2 and angiotensin 1-9.Involved in the degradation of atrial natriuretic factor and brain natriuretic factor.Displays UV-inducible elastase activity toward skin preelastic and elastic fibers.

Extra Notes: Western blot analysis of CD10 expression in human placenta (A), Ramos (B), human kidney (C) whole cell lysates., Immunohistochemical analysis of CD10 staining in human kidney formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
