Background: Calcium-dependent lectin that mediates cell adhesion by binding to glycoproteins on neighboring cells .
Mediates the adherence of lymphocytes to endothelial cells of high endothelial venules in peripheral lymph nodes. Promotes initial tethering and rolling of leukocytes in endothelia .
