Background: Colonystimulating factors(CSFs)were initiallycharacterized bytheir ability to stimulate in vitro colonyformation by hematopoietic progenitorcellsin semi-solidmedia. Several of these CSFs have been assigned an interleukin number, while three (GM-CSF, G-CSF and M-CSF) have retained their CSF designations. The human granulocyte-macrophage colonystimulating factor(GM-CSF) is a pleiotropic cytokinewith a 17 amino acid signal peptide that is cleaved to produce themature formof 127 amino acids. Thematuremurine GM-CSF protein is 124 amino acids and shares 60 percent homology with the human GM-CSF protein. GM-CSFis a glycoprotein thatcan stimulate the proliferation of hematopoieticcellsincluding granulocytes andmacrophages. It has been shown to promote the phosphorylation ofcPLA2 in human neutrophils. The phosphorylation ofcPLA2was accompanied by an increase in the enzyme activity.
Purification and Purity: The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Storage and Stability: Store at 4°C short term. Aliquot and store at -20°C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Specificity: CSF2 polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of CSF2 protein.
Bioworld Molecular Weight: ~ 23 kDa
