Background: Epithelial cell transforming sequence 2 (ECT2), a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF), catalyzes the exchange of GDP for GTP. The nuclear GEF activity of ECT2 is essential for Kras-Trp53 lung tumorigenesis. This transformation requires ECT2-mediated rRNA synthesis. In addition, PKCι-dependent phosphorylation of ECT2 is necessary for the oncogenic activity of this protein. Furthermore, ECT2 has been implicated as a cancer driver gene in certain subtypes of liver cancers. Research studies also show that, during matrix-directed cell migration, low membrane tension stimulates the formation of caveolae at the rear end of moving cells. ECT2 is recruited to the caveolae and activates RhoA, causing F-actin organization and rear retraction.

Purification and Purity: This antibody is purified through a protein G column.

Storage and Stability: Store at 4°C short term. Aliquot and store at -20°C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Specificity: Recognizes endogenous levels of ECT2 protein.

Extra Notes: Western blot analysis of ECT2 expression in 293T (A) whole cell lysates.

Bioworld Molecular Weight: ~ 104 kDa

Note: For research use only, not for use in diagnostic procedure.

Alternative Name: Protein ECT2; Epithelial cell-transforming sequence 2 oncogene

Immunogen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the center region of human ECT2. The exact sequence is proprietary.

Conjugate: Unconjugated

Modification: Unmodified
