Background: This gene encodes one of two glycosyltransferases involved in the chain elongation step of heparan sμlfate biosynthesis. Mutations in this gene cause the type II form of mμltiple exostoses. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been noted for this gene.
