Background: Galectins are a family of 尾-galactose binding proteins that are characterized by an affinity for poly-N-acetyllactosamine-enriched glycoconjugates and a carbohydrate-binding site . Members of the galectin family have been implicated in a variety of biological functions, including cell adhesio, growth regulation, cytokine production, T cell apoptosis, and immune responses .

Extra Notes: Western blot analysis of Galectin 3 expression in NCIH460 (A) whole cell lysates., Immunohistochemical analysis of Galectin 3 staining in human breast carcinoma formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
