Background: Galectins are a family of soluble b-galactoside-binding animal lectins that modulate cell-to-cell adhesion and cell-to-extracellular matrix (ECM) interactions and play a role in tumor progression, pre-mRNA splicing and apoptosis. Galectin-7, expressed mainly in stratified squamous epithelium, is activated by p53 and repressed by retinoic acid. It is a pro-apoptotic protein that functions intracellularly upstream of JNK activation and cytochrome c release. The galectin-7 gene maps to chromosome 19. Mainly expressed in stratified squamous epithelium.
Purification and Purity: ProA affinity purified
Storage and Stability: Store at +4°C after thawing. Aliquot store at -20°C or -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze / thaw cycles.
Specificity: Galectin 7 polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of Galectin 7 protein.
Bioworld Molecular Weight: 15 kDa
Note: For research use only, not for use in diagnostic procedure.
Extra Notes: Western blot analysis of Galectin 7 on human skin tissue lysate using anti-Galectin 7 antibody at 1/500 dilution., ICC staining Galectin 7 in HUVEC cells (green). The nuclear counter stain is DAPI (blue). Cells were fixed in paraformaldehyde, permeabilised with 0.25% Triton X100/PBS.
