Host: Mouse

Reactivity: Mouse, Rat

Applications: WB, IHC

Background: GFAP, a class-III intermediate filament, is a cell-specific marker that, during the development of the central nervous system, distinguishes astrocytes from other glial cells.

Product: Liquid in 0.42% Potassium phosphate, 0.87% Sodium chloride, pH 7.3, 30% glycerol, and 0.01% sodium azide.

Purification and Purity: The antibody was affinity-purified from mouse antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 95% (by SDS-PAGE).

Specificity: Recognizes endogenous levels of GFAP protein.

Note: For research use only, not for use in diagnostic procedure.

Extra Notes: Western blot analysis of GFAP expression in mouse brain (A), rat brain (B) whole cell lysates., Immunohistochemical analysis of GFAP staining in rat brain formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.
