Background: Multifunctional redox sensitive protein with various roles in different cellular compartments. In the nucleus is one of the major chromatin-associated non-histone proteins and acts as a DNA chaperone involved in replication, transcription, chromatin remodeling, V(D)J recombination, DNA repair and genome stability (Ref. 71). Proposed to be an universal biosensor for nucleic acids. Promotes host inflammatory response to sterile and infectious signals and is involved in the coordination and integration of innate and adaptive immune responses. In the cytoplasm functions as sensor and/or chaperone for immunogenic nucleic acids implicating the activation of TLR9-mediated immune responses, and mediates autophagy. Acts as danger associated molecular pattern (DAMP) molecule that amplifies immune responses during tissue injury (PubMed:27362237).

Purification and Purity: The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 218% (by SDS-PAGE).

Storage and Stability: Store at 4°C short term. Aliquot and store at -20°C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Specificity: Recognizes endogenous levels of HMGB1 (AcK12) protein.

Extra Notes: Western blot analysis of HMGB1 (AcK12) expression in NIH3T3 (A), HepG2 UV-treated (B) whole cell lysates.

Bioworld Molecular Weight: ~ 90 kDa

Note: For research use only, not for use in diagnostic procedure.

Alternative Name: HMG1; High mobility group protein B1; High mobility group protein 1; HMG-1

Immunogen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the N-term region of human HMGB1 (AcK12). The exact sequence is proprietary.
