Background: Myelin proteolipid protein (PLP1) corresponds to the majority of myelin proteins in the CNS, providing support to axons and modulating the axonal growth . DM20 is the result of the alternative splicing of the plp1 gene, which is linked to oligodendrocyte differentiation and survival. The imbalance of PLP1/DM20 is linked to Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease , including mitochondrial damage . In addition, PLP1, but not DM20, can enter the mitochondria and participate in the metabolism of cells .
Purification and Purity: This antibody is purified through a protein G column.
Storage and Stability: Store at 4°C short term. Aliquot and store at -20°C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Specificity: Recognizes endogenous levels of PLP1 protein.
Extra Notes: Western blot analysis of PLP1 expression in C6 (A), Hela (B), mouse cerebellum (C) whole cell lysates.
Bioworld Molecular Weight: ~ 34 kDa
Note: For research use only, not for use in diagnostic procedure.
Alternative Name: PLP; Myelin proteolipid protein; PLP; Lipophilin
Immunogen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the center region of human PLP1. The exact sequence is proprietary.
Conjugate: Unconjugated
Modification: Unmodified
