Background: Hemostasis following tissue injury involves the deployment of essential plasma procoagulants (Prothrombin and Factors X, IX, V and VIII), which mediate a blood coagulation cascade that leads to the formation of insoluble Fibrin clots and the promotion of platelet aggregation. Proteolytic cleavage of Prothrombin (Factor II) at residue 44 leads to formation of Thrombin in the first step of the coagulation cascade. Thrombin cleaves bonds between Arg and Gly and activates Factors V, VII, VIII and XIII in complex with thrombomodulin and Protein C. Thrombin maintains vascular integrity during development and postnatal life and coordinates connective tissue proteins by stimulating fibroblast procollagen production.

Purification and Purity: The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 95% (by SDS-PAGE).

Storage and Stability: Store at 4°C short term. Aliquot and store at -20°C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Note: For research use only, not for use in diagnostic procedure.

Extra Notes: Immunohistochemistry (IHC) analyzes of Prothrombin (G724) pAb in paraffin-embedded human breast carcinoma tissue at 1:100.

Bioworld Molecular Weight: ~ 70 kDa

Specificity: Prothrombin (G724) polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of Prothrombin protein.

Alternative Name: Prothrombin; Coagulation factor II; Activation peptide fragment 2; F2

Immunogen: Synthetic peptide, corresponding to amino acids 701-750 of Human Prothrombin.

Conjugate: Unconjugated
