Description: Recombinant Rat IL-5 Protein is produced by HEK293 cells expression system. The target protein is expressed with sequence (Met20-Val132) of Rat IL-5 (Accession #NP_068606.1 ) fused with a His tag at the C-terminus.
Alternate Names: Interleukin-5, IL-5, B-cell growth factor II, BCGF-II, Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte inducer, Eosinophil differentiation factor, T-cell replacing factor, TRF, Il5, Il-5
SWISS: Q08125
GeneID: 24497
Species: Rat
Purity: ≥ 85% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Storage: Store at -20 ℃. Store the lyophilized protein at -20℃ to -80 ℃ up to 1 year from the date of receipt. After reconstitution, the protein solution is stable at -20℃ for 3 months, at 2-8℃ for up to 1 week.
Background: Interleukin-5 (IL-5), which is produced primarily by type 2 T helper lymphocytes (Th2), is an eosinophil differentiation and activation factor. Antagonism of IL-5 activity is being explored as a potential treatment of a number of disease conditions associated with eosinophils in animal models. Interleukin-5 (IL-5) which was previously named T cell replacing factor, B cell growth and differentiation factor, colony forming unit growth stimulating factor and eosinophil differentiation factor is produced predominantly by T cells.
Bio-Activity: Measured in a cell proliferation assay using TF-1 Human erythroleukemic cells. The ED50 for this effect is 0.695-2.78 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity of 3.60×10^5 ~1.44×10^6 units/mg.
