Background: SF3B4 is part of the SF3b complex which associates with the U2 snRNP component of the spliceosome and is essential for spliceosome assembly. SF3B4 can associate with BMPR-1A to inhibit BMP-mediated cell differentiation. Haploinsufficiency of SF3B4 has been described in Nager syndrome, a disease of craniofacial malformation condition. Increased copy number of SF3B4 has been shown to play a role in hepatocellμlar carcinoma progression.
