Background: The tachykinin familyconsists of amidated neuropeptidesthatshare a carboxyterminalsequence (Phe-X-Gly-Leu-Met-NH2). Preprotachykinin I, also designated protachykinin 1 precursor (PPT), is a common precursor of tachykinins. Preprotachykinin I alternatelysplicesto formvariousisoforms. These isoforms include: Substance P; Neurokinin A (NKA, Substance K, Neuromedin L); Neurokinin B;Neuropeptide K (NPK);Neuropeptide γ; and C-terminal flanking peptide. Substance P is expressesed primarilyin the small diameter primary sensoryfibers of the peripheral nervoussystem, and in the superficial dorsal horn of the spinalcord, the substantia nigra, and the medial amygdaloid nucleus of the central nervoussystem. Tachykinin peptides havemany plieotropicfunctionsincluding: neurotransmission, immune/ hematopoieticmodulation, angiogenesis andmitogenesis. Preprotachykinin I has been implicated in breastcancer and bonemarrowmetastasis. Substance P plays a role in depression.

Purification and Purity: The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 95% (by SDS-PAGE).

Storage and Stability: Store at 4°C short term. Aliquot and store at -20°C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Specificity: TAC1 polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of TAC1 protein.
