Background: Functions as a ubiquitin E3 ligase and as an ISG15 E3 ligase .
Involved in innate immune defense against viruses by mediating ubiquitination of DDX58 and IFIH1.
Mediates 'Lys-63'-linked polyubiquitination of the DDX58 N-terminal CARD-like region and may play a role in signal transduction that leads to the production of interferons in response to viral infection.
Mediates 'Lys-63'-linked polyubiquitination of IFIH1.

Extra Notes: Western blot analysis of TRIM25 expression in K562 (A), rat brain (B), C6 (C), Hela (D) whole cell lysates., Immunofluorescent analysis of TRIM25 staining in MCF7 cells. Formalin-fixed cells were permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100 in TBS for 5-10 minutes and blocked with 3% BSA-PBS for 30 minutes at room temperature. Cells were probed with the primary antibody in 3% BSA-PBS and incubated overnight at 4 °C in a hidified chamber. Cells were washed with PBST and incubated with a AF488-conjugated secondary antibody (green) in PBS at room temperature in the dark.
