The genus Borrelia burgdorferi includes, among others, the human pathogenic species B. afzelii and B. garinii.
For the production of the native antigens, the strain B. afzelii (PKo) and the strain B. garinii (CIP 103362) is cultivated, extracted by detergent and the antigen is enriched in lipoproteins and outer surface proteins (OSPs).
The native antigens BA121VS and BA121GVS are suitable for the detection of IgG and IgM antibodies against B. burgdorferi.
In addition, two recombinant Borrelia burgdorferi antigens are also available - Borrelia afzelii PKo DbpA (BA121R01) and Borrelia afzelii PKo OspC (BA121R02). Both antigens are produced in E. coli and purified by chromatography. Purity of ≥ 95 % is confirmed via SDS-PAGE (Coomassie staining).
