Abbreviation: SHBG; ABP
Target Synonym: Sex hormone-binding globulin; SHBG; Sex steroid-binding protein; SBP; Testis-specific androgen-binding protein; ABP
UNIProt ID: P08689
Research Areas: Signal Transduction
Target Species: Rat
Expression Host: HEK293 Cells
Fusion Tag: C-His
Accession: P08689
Background: Functions as an androgen transport protein, but may also be involved in receptor mediated processes. Each dimer binds one molecule of steroid. Specific for 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone, testosterone, and 17-beta-estradiol. Regulates the plasma metabolic clearance rate of steroid hormones by controlling their plasma concentration.
Sequence: Met1-His403
Purity: > 95 % as determined by reducing SDS-PAGE.
Formulation: Lyophilized from sterile PBS, pH 7.4.
Normally 5 % - 8 % trehalose, mannitol and 0.01% Tween80 are added as protectants before lyophilization.
Please refer to the specific buffer information in the printed manual.
