DNAbsolute is a precipitating reagent for quick and safe DNA extraction of a wide range of samples
DNAbsolute provides a fast and safe method to isolate DNA from a wide range of sample types. Its high sensitivity makes it a solution of choice when working with small and precious samples.
Safe and simple
Based on ionic liquids, the DNAbsolute method does not involve any plastic columns nor harmful chemicals. DNAbsolute is the go-to solution for researchers seeking a rapid, user-friendly, and eco-conscious DNA extraction solution.
Versatile
Since its release, DNAbsolute has been successfully used to extract DNA from a wide panel of samples, including some of the most challenging ones:
- Insects (drosophila, psyllids, ants, beetles, butterflies, cochineals)
- Plants (dried leaves)
- Corals
- Bacteria (Salmonella, XL-1 blue)
Sensitive
Allowing efficient DNA recovery from single specimens down to a single leg, DNAbsolute is a solution of choice when working with limited or precious samples.

*The number of extractions per kit depends on your starting sample weight. For samples weighting from 50 mg to 100 mg, refer to the lowest number of extractions provided. This number will then be inversely proportional to the weight, and can be multiplied by up to 10 when working with samples under 10 mg.
Storage: PBS, Tris and Lysis buffers are stable for 1 year at room temperature (15-25°C). The 3M DNAbsolute reagent shoud be stored at 4°C and is stable for one year.

DNA pellet obtained from 50 drosophila after DNAbsolute precipitation
Extraction of PCR-grade DNA using DNAbsolute
DNA was extracted from 50 drosophila using either a column-based commercial kit (left column) or DNAbsolute (middle and right columns). The resulting DNA was used for PCR amplification of mTOR gene and amplified products were run on an electrophoresis gel.
Extraction of highly pure genomic DNA from drosophila using DNAbsolute
DNA was extracted from 50 drosophila using either a column-based commercial kit (left column) or DNAbsolute (right column). The resulting DNA was run on an electrophoresis gel.

Extraction of high DNA yields from dried plant leaves using DNAbsolute
Plant leaves either from herbarium specimens (canellaceae – canellaceae & pleodendron) or dried using silica gel (Nyctaginaceae – Pisonia) were extracted using DNAbsolute and run on an agarose gel. DNA yields were quantified on a Qubit instrument.
