PROTEOfectene® enables proteins to be introduced directly into mammalian cells without the need for prior gene expression.
Proteins introduced with PROTEOfectene® retain their structure and function completely unchanged. This opens new possibilities, from localization studies using fluorescence-marked proteins to direct manipulation of cell metabolism by means of functionally capable enzymes.
Some major features of PROTEOfectene® are its high efficiency, low toxicity and serum compatibility, making it a unique addition to the range of protein transport reagents. R-Phycoerythrin is a very suitable red fluorescent protein for application as positive control in proteofection experiments.
Proteofection of CHO-K1 cells with β-galactosidase and PROTEOfectene®. The subsequently fixed and dyed slide shows the functional capability of the enzyme introduced.
